Workshop in Beijing, China

I conducted a series of talks/workshops in Beijing, China in July through the MFAStudy organization. The classes are designed to introduce different design careers and art schools in the United States to high school students who come from all over China for the workshop. I shared my work and experience and discussed the Illustration department of the Rhode Island School of Design, where I am an instructor. The workshop was hands-on and the students enthusiastically worked on projects and asked a lot of questions about being an illustrator and the program at RISD. Joining me were Claudio Cina, a fashion designer and instructor from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and Rachael Berger, Chair of the Graphic Design department at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. There was also time for sightseeing in Beijing, where there is plenty to see! The students were eager to learn and it was a rewarding experience. It was my first trip to Asia and I look forward to returning and seeing more.
